WWDC Live: Black Pixel demos 2 new games
The guys from Black Pixel stopped by to demo 2 upcoming games they're working on, both for kids: one for very young children, and one targeted at a slightly older set, which I assume ranges up to at least 30, given that it has me pretty excited. I'm neither young (by my standards), nor a gamer, but the game currently codenamed Tatooine has me ready to go running through the streets swinging my iPhone around and firing it like a phaser, baffling innocent onlookers. Check out the video after the jump, you'll get the idea.

Let's hope they don't screw people over with their new Apps. If this is the same group as "Black Pixel Luminance" that did the "Fit" app, they sold the damn thing for $15, it never worked as they promised, and haven't done crap to fix it.
I'm sorry, but I highly doubt I'd ever spend a dime on another piece of software coming out of this company.

I do not believe Black Pixel is related to Black Pixel Luminance. I could be wrong, but I'll contact Kyle and have him settle it for us.

Brett, I just dug around on their blog. There's an entry titled "Black Pixel Luminance welcomes Chris Clark". That about settles it for me. Very disappointed in their work, especially with the promise of updates that never came. Let's hope they make good on their word about pulling their apps from the App Store until their up to their "design standards".

Interesting. I have no personal experience with Black Pixel Luminance, or any apps created previously. I just shot an email to them, we'll see what their response is.

Keep me posted, I'd love to hear what they have to say :) Thanks Brett!

Bill, I'm sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with Fit. If you could email me at chris[at]blackpixel[dot]com, I'll organize a refund as soon as possible.

Chris, it's not about the money anymore. It's already spent, and it wasn't that much money in the grand scheme of things, but it was expensive for an iPhone app for sure. It's more about unfulfilled promises for updates, etc. I'd expect a developer who already has my money to support their app and at least make sure it works as advertised before abandoning it completely.
Please don't take my frustration as a personal attack against anyone at Black Pixel, I don't mean it as such. I'd just like to see Black Pixel re-release Fit as a working app. :)

I totally understand, Bill. Still, I'd love to get some more of your thoughts on Fit. Any future releases would be a total redesign rather than an incremental update. And it never hurts to have more beta testers, even for our other apps. Drop me a line ;)

I agree with Bill, the first iteration of Fit was really rough and easily grouped in with some of the buggiest iPhone apps (though I've seen a lot worse). By version 1.03 the application became stable. While not all the foods are included (or even some basic staples), I'm hoping there will be an update eventually. Not a home run by any means, but core functionality is there (I still use the weight tracker). I don't necessarily feel screwed over (I've spent $20 on crappier apps), but I would have much rather had a free trial lite version before throwing down the cash. It looks like they've completely taken it off the market though.

In the growing world of app developers, and especially from a young company, there are bound to be some misses here and there as they get the ball rolling. While I have had no experience with Fit personally, I *can* say this looks like a good step in Black Pixel's growth. I, for one, am excited to see how this plays out, and how they support and perform in the future. I'm sure they've learned from Fit.
