Dev Team announces 3.0-compatible jailbreak tools
As the night follows the day, surely an updated Pwnage tool must follow the release of a new iPhone operating system. True to form, the dedicated hackers of the iPhone Dev Team have posted a blog entry detailing the steps needed to jailbreak (and, in some cases, unlock) iPhones running the new software.There are quite a few caveats and qualifications with this stage of the tool release; in particular, it won't work with 2nd-gen iPod touch devices, nor with the new 3G S phones. If you have unlocked your phone using the yellowsn0w tools, you are advised not to use this version of Pwnage as your phone will relock back to the original carrier assignment.
It should go without saying, but we'll say it: jailbreaking or unlocking your phone is done at your own risk.

No, this is simply to jailbreak the 3.0 OS on 3G~minor phones.
If you need to unlock your 3G and have a baseband AT or LOWER than 2.28.00 then you can use yellowsn0w to unlock your phone to use on other carriers.
If your baseband is HIGHER than 2.28.00 then you have to wait until they release ultrasn0w, which will unlock your 3G phone.
I'm guessing, since you already have the 3.0 software, you have the 4.26.08 baseband in which you will have to wait for ultrasn0w.

Wonderful! Upgraded to 3.0 and was getting pissed that Apple cannot figure out the simple need of having the new mail icon up in the status bar so I can tell if i have a new email without unlocking my phone, or leaving the current app.
Geez, EVERY blackberry since the 950 has had this.

It's something like 'status notify' IIRC. That and the SBSettings applet that turns off rotation when I don't want it (like laying down in bed) are the sole reasons I jailbreak.

For the time being, and for no apparent reason (other than that they perhaps forgot to check the little UB checkbox in Xcode before building), PwnageTool is Intel-only.

Can someone tell me:
1. If I jailbreak my iPhone 3G with this, will I still have access to officially available apps from the Appstore?
2. Does Apple or AT&T know that I've done it? I'm guessing no, but I'm also paranoid sometimes.

Done and done, and it works beautifully. The amount of potential that Apple hid is kind of negligent.
This is damn near as good as getting a 3G S!

Okay. Jailbroke. But I can't seem to install Intelliscreen. Icy tells me it's installed, but I don't see anything on my SB???
Anyone getting apps to install through Icy? And what happened to Cydia?

Yikes. I don't know why I bothered. Many (most?) jailbreak apps are working on 3.0 yet -- at least for me. The only app that I see on my springboard is Cycorder, and it doesn't work!!

Does this jailbreak allow the cydia cycorder or the dreamcatcher video recorder or do they too have to update their respective apps to have it work with this 3.0 OS?
