They still haven't fixed the 10.5.7/ATI graphics card issue. =/

From their forums, it sounds like the graphics issue is something ATI and Apple will need to fix with an OS update.

The update appears to disable the Topsites and Coverflow features in Safari 4 for Windows on my iMac with ATI 2600 graphics. I didn't think of this consequence when I updated from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5. The features worked in 2.0.4.
At this point, I reinstalled 2.0.4 and reinstalled Quicktime and Safari, but have not been able to get the Safari features working again. My current thought is that it is due to the associated VMWare Tools update, which I don't see how to revert except by going to a backup.

The VMware Tools are listed in the Add/Remove Programs control panel. Simply remove them, let it reboot and reinstall the 2.0.4 Tools. That should take care of it -- if indeed they are to blame for your Safari issues.

@Pepijn Bruienne: Thanks; that probably would have worked. I did revert to a backup and solved the problem. The Safari 4 features are working again under Fusion 2.0.4.
The obvious symptom was when Safari 4 came up, it showed a page saying, Safari can’t open “topsites://” because Microsoft Windows doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “topsites:”.
There are posts in the Apple discussion forums about people getting this message on physical Windows computers. It is related to this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3410
And this, from the Fusion 2.0.5 release note:
"Because enabling 3D acceleration on Macs running Mac OS X 10.5.7 with ATI chipsets might cause VMware Fusion to fail, 3D acceleration is disabled in VMware Fusion 2.0.5 on Macs running Mac OS X 10.5.7 with ATI chipsets. You can re-enable this setting when new ATI drivers with the fix are available."

I'm using the Snow Leopard Preview and I find Fusion is a lot more responsive and the memory footprint seems smaller....

Your notes are wrong, according to VMWare's Release notes page, it supports Snow Leopard SERVER as a guest operating system, not the client version.

This is a minor technicality. Officially, only Mac OS X Server is licensed for virtualization. Regular versions of Mac OS X are not licensed for virtualization.

And Fusion is smart enough to check the install disc/dmg and make sure its in fact the server OS, making it less a minor technicality and a, albeit completely reasonable and justified, physical limitation in the software.
