Latest iPhone TV ad highlights video editing

If there's one thing Apple wants you to know about the iPhone 3GS, it's that this is the device to get for mobile video. Witness the latest TV ad for the new phone, "Skateboard": it could hardly look easier to shoot, trim and email your clips from the neigborhood skate park.

The ad is airing now, and continues the feature-focused ad series for the 3GS that started with Copy & Paste and Voice Control. It's a shame they can't do ads for Tethering & MMS, or Cooking An Egg.

Side note: does it seem weird to anyone else that the "Itchy" ad features a compass app (Tommy Westerberg's Compass Go) that came out prior to the release of the 3GS?

Thanks Chris F.

Yeah, I remember seeing an iPhone ad spouting off about how great the compass was about 2-3 weeks before the 3GS and I was like, wow somebody is getting canned for that slip up. But who knows.

How hideous is that music they're using? Very poor show.

It's Matt Costa - Mr. Pitiful. The real song is actually pretty good!

Doesn't editing require at least 2 clips cut together to make something new? What this ad refers to as editing is simply trimming video.

Since trimming is one of the actions that can be performed as a means of editing video content, I guess they "could" have said,"A very limited form of editing your video called trimming", but since they truncated the sequences, they likely truncated the text as well :)

Is it just me, or did Apple's Quick Time player suddenly start looking similar to a generic flash video player?
