Apple store is down... and now back up
The online Apple store is currently down. Considering it's the middle of the weekend for folks in the Western Hemisphere, and considering that we haven't heard much in the way of rumors concerning new products or product updates, this is more than likely just a maintenance update. We'll be monitoring the store's status and try to determine what, if anything, has changed when it comes back up.And... it's back up. Nothing much appears to have changed, aside from some reports of pricing changes on refurb iPods and the 'new' badges on some products.
Thanks to the many readers who sent this in.

September 22 2009 at 2:08 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywhat kind of ecommerce setup is that. having to go offline almost an entire day (at least in europe) to update some prices and labels?
even if it is a technical update with backoffice updates it is rediculous to go offline. any self respecting e-commerce platform as capable of updating without downtime.
Does anyone know if you purchase a Refurbished iPod touch, do you get OS 3? Just wondering, cheeers team

September 20 2009 at 4:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow I had just done a fresh install and last night I was trying to authorize itunes and it wouldn't let me. I completely uninstalled itunes and am reinstalling now. Hopefully I won't get the dreaded 5002 error anymore.
September 20 2009 at 4:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNope, still getting it. I'm not getting the error in Windows 7 itunes. I have tried everything. I completely deleted all itunes folders; I re-entered all my account info in itunes; i repaired permissions; I deleted all of my library...
I'm still not able to authorize my account in OSX itunes. Any advice?
I did an apple online chat and found out it was due to my computer name under preferences>sharing was wy too long
