New Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse show up in FCC database

We've been hearing a lot about a new mouse from Apple lately, and earlier today images and additional documentation about a new Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse (using Bluetooth) showed up in the FCC database. The new keyboard has a model number of A1314, while the mouse has a model number of A1296. The dimensions of the new wireless keyboard are smaller than the current Apple Wireless Keyboard, particularly in the distance between the top and bottom of the keyboard. There are still few details on the new mouse at this point.
The FCC images were quickly pulled from the FCC database, then re-added later in the day with details cropped out, but they can still be found in all of their original glory over on our sister site Engadget.

Cool. This is nice to know.
Maybe this is to go with the new Macs that might be announced in an October event.

No number pad again? Lame.

I kind of like having no number pad...makes it a lot easier to tote around.

Hopefully it syncs better than the last one!

Are we sure this is a regular key board, and not something related to that patent that was uncovered earlier today?

When something is submitted to the FCC it is real. They test the real product to make sure that it complies with regulations. So, yes, whatever this new keyboard and mouse is, it is certainly real.

I never said a thing about it not being "real." I said is a a -regular keyboard- and not a device related to the patent filing earlier today.

It's SMALLER than the current wireless keyboard? That's crap. I want a real freakin' keyboard. But logitech's are too expensive with bluetooth, which is essential. *sigh*

@ Urbz: actually it's a bit bigger than the current wireless keyboard. It's quite a lot deeper (more square) and pretty much the same width.

i'd rather see them make something like the current shorty wireless keyboard *with* an attached multitouch pad.
the only reason i would ever want the wireless functionality to begin with would be for sitting on the couch. or another situation where lacking wires (implying a need for mobility) would mean i'd want something compact.
the compactness and convenience is lost when i have to bring a whole other device along. maintain 2 sets of batteries. etc etc etc.
that and i don't know how other peoples couches are designed... but mine doesn't have a built-in trackable hard surface on it.

Couldn't agree more on the multi-touch pad rather than a "mouse". My only preference for an apple touch pad would be for it to NOT be glass, like the iPhone/iTouch interface, rather more like the MBP touch pad.
(BTW, Wacom has just introduced a Touch pad capability in it's Bamboo products)

actually... the multitouch trackpads in the unibody MacBook / MacBook Pro *are* glass.
from : http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/features.html
"Without a separate button, the spacious trackpad gives your hands plenty of room to move on the large, silky glass surface."
...and the caption of the big trackpad picture says it is made out of "wear-resistant etched glass".
probably explains why unlike previous Apple trackpads they don't get that odd rubbery/sticky feeling in the 'high-traffic' areas after 18-24 months of heavy use.

Maybe we might even get lucky and get a Bluetooth External Keyboard for the IPHONE !

Nice, current BT mouse is the worst Apple product I've ever purchase.

It's exactly the SAME SIZE as the current keyboard!!!
The picture doesn't show the complete keyboard... It's only the plastic bottom part.

Sniff. I still miss my good ole Saratoga*. With those new-fangled media keys and Bluetooth that would be the keyboard of my dreams.
* If you're too young to know what I'm talking about, just google for "Saratoga keyboard".
