Tweetie 2 is now on the App Store
Tweetie 2 for Mac is still coming sometime soon, as the iPhone version was intended to be released first.
What do think of Tweetie 2? How does it compare to the other Twitter apps for the iPhone. Leave a comment below and let us know!

It's too bad Tweetie 2 is a downgrade from Tweetie 1. Settings are in a confusing place. No themes. The only useful feature I've found is the ability to copy text from tweets.

Then you obviously didn't really use Tweetie 2. It has lots of new features, it's an amazing upgrade! Has replaced Twitterrific for me instantly! Love the way how nearby tweets are shown on an actual map!

I bought it to try it out, and my wife is hooked on Tweetie. I love the swipe feature and the "reply-all." But I still like the Twitterrific UI options and look overall, and it takes less clicks to reply and see a conversation. I want Twittetrific to add the reply-all, and then I feel it will be complete.
But, I use Tweetie for Mac, and the syncing features could be tempting. We'll see!

What it actually takes less steps to reply. you just slide your finger on the tweet and it give you the reply button there.

I have Twitterriffic setup to just double tap to reply and triple tap to retweet..I am still on the fence about trying out tweetie 2..

I'm really disappointed at the lack of themes, specifically the chat bubbles. Superficial, I know, but sometimes looks makes up for a lot. I mean, I want the smart geeky chick, especially if I pay money for the "upgrade"!

I'm already loving the upgrade! $3 well spent for offline view alone! I always have issues with my mobile 'net. Multiple images is also great, and full landscape support is awesome. Definitely worth the $3, IMO.

There are people who have paid for Tweetie. Why should they pay again, since Tweetie 2 is clearly an update?

@artech Because software developers need to eat too.

Why should you have to pay every-time a new Mac OS comes out, or Microsoft Office. Thats just the way the software world works. You wouldn't expect Apple to release a new MacBook and suddenly offer you a new one free would you. Software is just the same.

The analogy doesn't seem to be correct. Mac OS X is an operating system and Office is a suite; they can both be seen as productivity tools and of course the working hours amount spent on each of them is enormous.
Twitter on the other hand is a free service. Not mentioning that Tweetie is merely one app, I don't agree on any app that relates to a free service being sold and that's why I use freeware ones on my desktop and phone. Nevertheless I understand it, exaclty because "developers need to eat". But charging money for an update on the same app seems to me like the particular developers are suffering from ...gluttony. Not to mention it's against the app store policy "pay once for the app - have the updates for free", just as Jobs has also said in one of his speeches.

Grossly overrated. Push notification is hardly that. And it doesn't tell me what the new tweets are, just that I have new tweets. It'd be nice to know how many new tweets I have as well. It seems all the bloggers are in love, but I'm more inclined to think they're getting kickbacks. This 'update' in no way accounts for the extra $3 bucks I've paid. I'm much less inclined to be similarly fooled when this developer pulls this stunt again.

How dare he wants money for his hard programming work! How can he even think about it? Can't he get another job to earn for his living, and just code everything for free? I hope you find the sarcasm. Tweetie is a great update, yes, there are still things that could be improved, as with ANY software, and I'm sure they will be improved in the future.

Its $3! How cheap can you be? Plus there was lots of hard work T2!
Red_iPhone said 3:27PM on 10-10-2009
I'm sorry. It's my money. And if I don't think it's worth it, then it isn't worth it to me. Or is he entitled to my money regardless. I know I'm at least entitled to my opinion.
And I have used the app. Don't like it that much. Bach up off me Tom. I hope you're getting your fair share of the profits with how hard you're campaigning for T2.

I don't see the need for anyone to back off. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It was your choice to purchase the app if you don't like it fine but your distaste doesn't make it a bad app. You tapped the button. If you don't like it read reviews next time or try it on someone else's phone before you buy. Then your $3 lunch money will be saved.
I was skeptical and almost angry about the purchase price. I even e-mailed in my anger. Got an immediate response from Loren and some great points and communication from the team. If you still feel entitled read this article maybe it might bring you back to reality.

You seem to miss my point. No sense of entitlement, I've been dissapointed with both apps. Read several reviews from several sources, I disagree with most. My opinion as you say. And my telling Tom to back off is b/c of him telling us we "obviously" haven't used the app properly. Our opinions couldn't possibly be valid b/c it's in direct contradiction to his? We've tried it, we don't like it. Why he has to assumewe haven't used the app properly, I'm not sure. And if it's that easy to misuse, then it's not living up to the hype, us it?
