Wireless Keyboard Update 2.0 now available
Earlier today, Apple released Wireless Keyboard Update 2.0, which adds support for some nice features like using the function keys for display brightness, Dashboard, Spaces, iTunes playback control and speaker volume. To install the update, first turn on and pair your keyboard and then run Software Update. It's just under 11MB.Note that Mac OS X 10.5.8 is required before installing this update; for Mac OS X 10.6 users, this support is included in the Mac OS X 10.6.2 update.
Let us know how the update goes for you!

This update is for the new (2009) keyboards now shipping. You have always been able to do all the things mentioned in this post with the (older) existing wireless keyboards in current OS versions (as well as newish versions of Tiger).

Thanks for clarifying that, I read the post and turned my head sideways, then read it again. I kept thinking “but mine already does that.”

If only Apple would make a wireless version of the full size keyboard (with numeric keypad)...

I have two of the bluetooth keyboards that have a number pad.

A number pad? How about they start by putting a real goddamned Delete key on the small keyboard and their LAPTOPS?
The level of ignorance required to make this mistake (having only a Backspace key) over and over is simply mind-boggling.

Why in the friggin hell doesn't Apple make the iPhone compatible with this keyboard???
Their Apple Bluetooth External Keyboard would be a perfect accessory to the iPhone.
They would sell a ton of them!!!
Wake up Apple !!

FFS let us know in your writeup that it's for new keyboards. I wasted a lot of time on this dickhead.

Oh yay.
This would be the fix for the hack demonstrated at Black Hat 2009 (I think)
Someone demonstrated a hack of being able to insert a key logger into a Apple USB Keyboard.

I've been using wireless keyboards for over a year now and I love it. It's so convenient and much less wires, which looks great!
