Growl at 1.2, with 64-bit support
Ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard, the one remaining 32-bit niggle I have has been with Growl's preference pane. While most of the updates in 1.2 are "behind the scenes," the biggest user-facing improvement is in the upgrade to 64-bit. What this means is that for Snow Leopard users, selecting the Growl preference pane does not require Preferences.app to re-launch in 32-bit compatibility mode.
In addition to the Growl preference pane, GrowlMail and GrowlSafari have been updated to 64-bit and are now Snow Leopard compatible. Further, the Growl framework has been re-written in Cocoa dropping support for the Carbon-based API.
You can see the full list of changes over at Growl's version history page. Growl users should have received a notification to download the update. Alternatively, you can head over to Growl's homepage and click "download" to get your ticket to the notification express.

Umm, if you go to the growl website it says right there on the main page it was updated in the end of the September. I've been running this version for nearly two months...

Maybe Aron didn't turn on his Mac since installing SnowLeopard? I've ran this for quite some time as well.

1.2 has been out for a long time... Now I'm using Snow Lepoard I have has problems with mail turning growl off since the last OSX update. It works fine with other apps but not with mail. odd!

What a load of nonsense and bad journalism from Tuaw. Growl notified me ages ago of the upgrade and I've been running it since October. As directo has said, the front page of the Growl website clarifies that this was released at the end of September.
Nearly 2 months out of date. I think Aron needs to go back and revisit journalism 101.

Hold the press, someone made a mistake. Let's go point fingers and shout (s)he needs to go back to school, and in turn make ourselves feel *just* a bit better, knowing that we're not the only ones screwing up every now and then.

Imagine my surprise when I fired up System Preferences to update Growl after reading TUAW's insightful article, only to realize that I've been running v 1.2 since September 28.
Nice job TUAW. We don't even check software release dates anymore?

Now if only Growl would stop notifying me about updates that won't run on my G4 Tiger Machine. Every few hours I get the annoying "A new version of Growl is available" WTF, is there a way to disable this feature?

You're still getting that? Odd. I'll look into it.
In the mean time you can disable update checking in the about tab. We'll not put another 10.4 compatible prefpane.
