Google revamps mobile Google News format
Like most "mobile versions" of websites, Google News was simplified for use on devices featuring what Steve Jobs once called "the baby Internet." Sadly, this simplified version also showed up by default on the iPhone, leading to an experience that was, to put it charitably, subpar. That's all changed now that Google has redesigned the mobile version of Google News for iPhone, Android, and Palm Pre users. The new mobile version is far more feature-rich than the old one and is more consistent in its appearance (i.e., it's almost indistinguishable from the desktop version) compared to the old "mobile-optimized" Google News.
It also includes a handy "Jump to" link which brings up a window that allows you to skip to the news section of your choice, saving your thumbs from severe scroll fatigue.
There's no need to download anything. Simply go to Google News on your iPhone and check out the changes.

Umm...
I'm a bit more interested in how you are tethering. Is that a jailbroken phone, a pre-3.1 phone, or do you have another method of tethering on the latest iPhone OS without jailbreaking?

Voda NZ = Vodafone New Zealand. Which, unlike AT&T, lets you tether to your heart's (and wallet's) content.

Ah yes. I should've noticed the Voda NZ in the top corner. Thanks.

I would like to point out that TUAW has a mobile site that automatically loads onto my iphone, with no optout button. The original point of the iphone was there is no reason for this kind of thing. These sites really annoy me, let me opt-in to light sites not opt-out.

From what I understand there's behind-the-scenes coding that needs to take place in order to get the full TUAW site working properly on Mobile Safari. But rather than wait for that, why not download the TUAW app from the iTunes Store? Not only is the app way better than the mobile site, I'd argue it offers a better experience than the full site in Mobile Safari would. Check it out if you haven't already - it's free.

Thanks. I didn't know there was a tuaw app and the formating is much better. However there doesn't seem to be access to the comments in the app, which might a good thing considering the quality of the commentary around here lately (your comment excepted of course)

I dont know where else to share this, but that massive ad banner that covers the page when I'm navigating is NOT cool and will make me reconsider visiting this site in the future.

Just get Adblock Plus. Problem solved.
