Apple releases updates for AirPort software, MacBook and MacBook Pro EFI

Apple today released several updates today including AirPort client software, and EFI firmware revisions for some MacBook and MacBook Pro models.
First, the AirPort Client Update 2009-002 update fixes the following issues:
- An Inability to turn AirPort on or off in some cases after upgrading from Mac OS X Leopard.
- An occasional loss of network connection when using Wake on Demand.
- An Inability to create a computer-to-computer network, or share the Internet connection on some MacBook, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini computers.
is available for the Late 2008 aluminum MacBook model and the Early 2009 and Mid 2009 white MacBook models, and for Late 2008 15 inch MacBook Pro models and Early 2009 17 inch MacBook Pro models. (The KB article for the MacBook EFI update may need a little editing, as it refers to a suggestion from a mysterious 'Glenno.')These updates are available through Software Update, or they're available from Apple's support page.

Yeah me too I got the same wifi issues after installing it. Can anybody here tell me how to fix it? I think Mac should have an update that will give greater positive effect to our units. Not to make it worst. Thanks a lot....

I haven't dropped a connection and it actually seems to run better on wifi than on ethernet.
My signal's strength also appears to have improved a bit. I'm getting great reception (speed) in areas of the house that I hadn't before.
It took Apple some time to fix the wifi issue, but it was worth the wait.
Actually, no.... it shouldn't have happened in the first place.
I got the same problem after updating my unit. Can anybody tell me how to fix it?
Thanks a lot!

my macbook pro didn't offer the EFI upgrade and when downloading directly off of apple site i get error saying computer does not need that upgrade

When I booted my 24" iMac up after installing the Airport update, I got a dialog box asking me to update the Superdrive firmware. So, I did - no issues so far.
Anyone else seeing this?
MacBook 5,1
Startup "chunk chunk" - still there but I don't mind it (I rarely turn my MacBook off)
Wake "chunk chunk" - eerily silent...nice (and it knows if I put a disk in while it was sleeping somehow)
I've been using Wireless Sleeper for some time to address erratic connection to wireless on wake from sleep, but under SL I was also having problems with my MBP (late '07) trying to start up when closed and 'sleeping'.
I uninstalled WS before adding this update. So far, the wireless connection snaps on after wake from sleep--without WS it would often fail to connect on waking, requiring me to put the computer back to sleep and it would connect on the second 'wake up'. This is better performance than with WS at it's best under Leopard (yes, this hasn't been only an issue with SL.)
It's too soon for me to tell whether it's addressed the computer being active while closed. This causes some overheating (72 degrees c.) which has meant I needed to turn off the computer or leave it open. Fingers crossed this update helps...
Wow, prior to this update firefox and several other apps would crash after waking from sleep. No MORE!! everything works as it should now....and no annoying noise to boot!

early 2009 white MB
For those that may have missed it, after applying the EFI update you also have to apply a new firmware to the SuperDrive. With both updates in place you should no longer hear the optical drive noise when you wake nor when you start up. That's what I've found so far.
The bad thing I'm experiencing now however are video glitches. Using the lower-powered integrated Nvidia video on my Spring 2009 17" MBP Unibody, the whole screen will quickly flash black every now and then. Sometimes I might only see the bottom half or bottom quarter flash.
I guess most people missed that detail. :P
