The Apple Store is down (Update: back up, no changes)

Apple's online store is currently down. We're not aware of any upcoming product launches, but the store going down in the middle of the week does usually mean it's not simple overnight maintenance. We'll keep our eye on the situation and let you know if anything new shows up when the store returns.

Update: The store is back up, but there are no obvious changes. If you see anything we missed, let us know in the comments.

To be more specific, the MC516 2.4GHz MacBook is now 899 (from 949) in Education, and the previous MC207 2.26GHz MacBook (Previously 899) is discontinued. The real difference between them besides the .14 processor speed difference was the projected battery life (7 hrs vs 10 hrs).

Is the navigation bar across the top of the Apple Online Store blank for anyone else? I can't see any of the words on the buttons across the top of the page...

It would be quite cool if they updated the Macbook line to have TB. That would be cool. I think that what they might be doing however is just maintenance even though this isn't a typical thing to do during the week. However, they could be preparing for the inevitable back to school events. Who knows?

My guess is updating the site with info about summer student discount (free iPod deal).
