No Comment: Woman buys wooden iPad

This is a completely hypothetical situation: Someone in a McDonald's parking lot says he picked up an iPad for a cheap $300, and wonders if you'd want to buy it off of him for just $180. You decide why not (because reputable salesmen always just hang around in the parking lots of fast food places, right?), and take your new tablet home, only to find that it is in fact a wooden block, not the shiny piece of technology you'd hoped for. And what's more, it's not just a wooden block, but it's a dirty, makeshift fake iPad, complete with an Apple logo on the back, icons on the front, and some sort of weird fake Best Buy sales ticket. Sure, the thieves could have just sold you a brick in a box, but nope, they went all out on this one.

Wait, this isn't a hypothetical situation? It actually happened to an, erm, unfortunate lady in South Carolina? Oh. Wait, she really did buy an iPad for $180 from a couple of guys outside McDonald's? Oh. Well then. No comment.

Oh, that's awful! There are so many stories about fake electronics! (http://www.pissedconsumer.com/consumer-reviews/appliances.html) The most interesting thing is that no matter how many warnings there are, people still keep on getting scammed! How is that possible??!

She deserve to get ripped off. Who in their right mind thinks that you can buy an ipad for 180 outside a mcdonalds?? Especially from a dude wearing a gold tooth and driving an impala?? I mean really.

If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

I don't think this applies to these salesmen ;) They DID sell the woman something, an iPad. They are free to call their plank whatever they like ;) IF there was someone to sue, then it was Apple because of trademark violations.

That lady however just got what she deserves: you know, wooden iPads don't break that easily in the kitchen when you slice potatoes on them!

;)

It's art, and well worth the $180. ;)

It doesn't matter if it is art or if it is worth $180. If you sell me a Vermeer and I open the box and it's an different but equally valuable van Gogh, it's still fraud, because you misrepresented what you were selling.

No problem. Please have her send me 21.0 bitcoins and I'll mail her a real iPad.

Hmm... The "No Comment:" thing is kind of silly because you don't refrain from commenting on the situation. It really just doesn't make sense, even when trying to be funny/sarcastic.

Kinda looked like more of a description than a commentary...

Yeah, that's what I always thought from the moment they started this "No Comment" nonsense. They post a picture, label it No Comment...

...and then proceed to comment on it! The idea is interesting, I just wish they'd call it something else that makes a little more sense.
