Apple brings warranty in line with Australian laws after watchdog cries foul
After an investigation by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Apple has agreed to bring its repair and replacement policies in line with the country's laws. The Wall Street Journal reports that the commission discovered Apple had misapplied much shorter return stipulations -- as short as 14 days -- and 12-month warranties on products that Australian law dictates should be covered for a full 24 months.
In addition to tweaking its warranty offerings in the country, Apple has committed to adding details to its Australian website, and to further train store staff and CSRs on the changes. The company appears to have dodged any fine or other disciplinary action this time around, which hasn't always been the case when Australian authorities set their sights on Apple.
