The iPhone 4 as it is today, with a 3.5-inch screen.
Here's what happens when you keep the iPhone's current 3:2 aspect ratio and bump the screen size up to 4 inches. The screen goes to the very edge of the handset's faceplate -- possibly even beyond.
An iPhone with a 4-inch screen in the iPad's 4:3 aspect ratio would have to be considerably wider. It almost looks like a BlackBerry when it's this wide.
With the 16:10 format of the MacBook/MacBook Pro line, the iPhone's screen goes right to the edge of the front faceplate.
I have a soft spot for this one. A 16:9-formatted screen would make watching movies on the iPhone a lot more pleasant.
