New TV shows in US iTMS

Several new shows have been added to the US iTunes Music Store, including Blade: The Series (the first offering from the Spike network), TV Land's Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg and Viva La Bam from MTV, the show I'm obviously too old to "get." Check 'em out.

Microsoft confirms the 'iPod killer' rumors are false

Yesterday, Engadget posted some less-than-clear images with rumors of an iPod killer coming soon from the Microsoft camp. Today, PC Magazine has confirmation from a Microsoft rep that these rumors were nothing more than hot air. In fact, they were simply the result of a mis-translated Japanese press release about Microsoft's new Windows Media Player 11 software; they had nothing to do with hardware.

So for those of you who might have developed a chronic nail-biting habit, worried that Microsoft's new '#1 with a bullet', MTV-infused music service and killer new hardware were going to usurp Apple's iPod and iTunes overnight (ironically, the only time MTV has anything to do with music these days), I think it's safe to say you can give your nerves a rest.

[UPDATE: Microsoft was setting other rumors about an iPod killer straight; their announcement wasn't tied to these images that Engadget posted yesterday. Those could be shots of a Gigabeat-S portable media player from Toshiba, for all anyone knows.]

Pimp My Ride, now with 33% more iPod

I have heard, from good sources, that the kids enjoy watching the MTV. Furthermore, they enjoy watching Pimp My Ride, a show in which a lucky person's vehicle is tranformed from 'old and busted' to the 'new hotness' almost as if by some wonderful magic. It now appears that Pimp My Ride will be adding iPod connectivity to about a third of their projects, something that I am sure Apple is happy about.

MTV Show "Laguna Beach" now in the iTMS

Season One of MTV's Laguna Beach reality show has been added to the iTMS. This apparently is the first MTV show to appear on the iTunes Music Store, and perhaps hints at a larger partnership between Apple and MTV. You can find the show by doing a search in the TV category in the iTMS. There has been no official word from MTV about other shows that may be added in the near future.

Drop me a line when Pimp My Ride shows up in the iTMS. That's definitely worth the 1.99 an episode.

Update: Apparently there is new Comedy Central content on the iTMS as of today as well. This update includes South Park, Drawn Together, and Best of Comedy Central Stand-up. Rock! [thanks Ruben Santiago and Young!]
