Cyberduck 3.0

There are lots of great FTP clients out there for Mac OS X, but my favorite is Cyberduck (if only because the icon is so darned cute). Recently Cyberduck 3.0 was released, and it brings with it a bunch of neat new features, including:

Support for WebDAV
Support for Amazon S3 (that's Amazon storage cloud service)
Bookmark searching
Quick Look for files in the Cyberduck browser (this is pretty cool)

The UI has also gotten a lift, and I must say it is pretty snazzy. Overall, this is a great update to a very good app.

Cyberduck is free, but donations are encouraged.

Cyberduck 3.0b1 with WebDAV and S3 support

We recently noted the release of the new shareware FTP client Flow and now it seems that one of the more venerable open source FTP clients on the Mac is also nearing a new version release. The first beta of Cyberduck 3 is now available. Most importantly, it adds a substantially updated interface as well as support for WebDAV and Amazon S3.

Cyberduck 3.0b1 is a free download but donations are requested.

Cyberduck hits 2.8 with file transfer queueing

Henrik sends us word that Cyberduck, the other FTP app I use all the time, has been updated to version 2.8. New in this version, you can find the Ganymed SSH2 library, support for SCP transfers, file transfer queueing, the ability to limit bandwidth, and a number of other bugfixes and features. Henrik also reminds us that open sourced Cyberduck is way ahead of anything else in language localization, as it supports (deep breath) English, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Slovak, Spanish, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Russian, Swedish, Danish, Polish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Catalan, Welsh, Thai, Turkish and Hebrew. Whew! No Klingon localization? What will M'marhcS use for an FTP client?

Cyberduck 2.8, as always, is open source, which means free as in speech and beer, and is available for download on their website.

Cyberduck 2.6 is available

Cyberduck is the free, open source FTP/SFTP client for Mac OS X that I've been using for about a year now. It works quite well, is full-featured and free (I said that already, right?). You can also get a Dashboard widget, Growl notification and Quicksilver integration for Cyberduck.

Version 2.6 is now available, and changes include:

Turkish Localization
Automatic software update
Dashboard Widget included
Reintroduced transcript drawer in browser window
Transcript drawer added to transfer window
Option to use Network Diagnostics upon failed connections

Cyberduck requires Mac OS 10.3.9 or later.

Tip of the Day

Use Spotlight as a reference tool. Type any word in the Spotlight box and one of the top entries will be a definition. Click on it, and it will bring up the dictionary application to check the word in either the dictionary, thesaurus, Apple database, or Wikipedia.
