Nothing quickens the blood like a thrilling software update. Am I right, folks? Ok, perhaps that is a slight exaggeration, but it is a good feeling to have some bugs that have been bothering you squashed with a nice update. Apple has just released Pro Application Support 4.0.1 which, 'improves general user interface reliability for Apple's professional applications and is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Final Cut Express HD, Soundtrack, Logic Pro and Logic Express.'
Fire up Software Update, or download it directly from Apple's website.
Apple just released version 4.1.2 of DVD Studio Pro. This new update focuses mostly on bug fixes as well as addressing compatibility problems with Toshiba HD DVD players. Two big changes include the update in the Cutting Master Format used for professional replication from CMF 1.0 to CMF 2.0 (required for High Definition DVD replication) and Disk Description Protocol from DDP 2.1 to DDP 3.0.
Apple has released DVD Studio Pro 4.1.1 which addresses "an issue with disc layout for DDP and CMF images on Intel-based Macintosh computers." For the acronym challenged, that's Disc Description Protocol, which identifies and describes collections of data that will be recorded onto a High Density (HD), DVD or CD optical discs and Cutting Master Format, a derivative of DDP. Yes, I looked it up. The update is recommended for all users of DVD Studio Pro 4.1 and later and weighs in at a paltry 2.3MB.
Apple has updated Aperture to 1.1.2 though they haven't, at the moment, provided any details as to what the update does (at least not on their website).
Also lurking in your Software Update panel is the Pro Application Update 2006-01, which ' addresses several issues with underlying frameworks and shared components for Apple's professional applications and is strongly recommended for all users of:
MacTV has posted Apple's NAB 2006 demo reel which shows off a number
of movies and commercials that used Final Cut Studio in their production. This is very well put together, and really
shows off the power of Final Cut Studio (as it was designed to do). Thanks, Cepheus.
