Make and share iQuiz games with iQuizr

A few weeks ago, Apple released iQuiz for the 5th generation iPod. As it stands from the iTunes Store, it creates a quiz game based on your iTunes library's meta data.

However, the real fun is making your own quizzes for iQuiz, and sharing them with our buds. There are a number of sites that will show you just how to do it, as well as provide the means for sharing your custom-built quizzes. iQuizr uses a web interface for the construction of games, and categorizes available games for quick download.

Aspyr releases iQuiz Maker

Well that didn't take long. We just mentioned the release of Apple's newest iPod game, iQuiz, and now Aspyr has already come out with iQuiz Maker. This little application makes it easy to create custom quizzes and load them on your iPod. Of course you can also share your iQuizzes with others as well. The iQuiz site already contains several sample iQuizzes as well as three different themes. This could conceivably turn your iPod into a study tool (or at least that's what you can tell mom).

iQuiz Maker is a free download from Aspyr Media.

iQuiz review

iLounge has posted an in-depth iQuiz review. Their verdict? For well-groomed iTunes libraries, the just-under-a-buck iQuiz game gets solid thumbs up. iQuiz uses your library's meta data (including facts like "year published", "artist", and so forth) to create an interactive game-show-like quiz game that goes well beyond the iPod's built-in and usually unsatisfying Music Quiz. The game also includes several trivia games based on music, movies, and TV shows with Apple-provided databases. There are definitely drawbacks to the software. iLounge points out that games end a little abruptly after 10 questions and iQuiz is pretty battery intensive. If you're considering whether it's worth it to spend your buck, the review is comprehensive and has lots of pretty screen caps. Go read it all.

iQuiz is available

Last week, we looked deep into our crystal ball and saw the iQuiz would be the next game released for the iPod.* Today, it's available in both the US [link] and UK [link] iTunes stores, for 99 cents and 79 pence respectively. Similar to the old iPod quiz game, iQuiz asks you to identify your music.

*Or maybe we just saw an article at Electronista. Either way, really.

Thanks, Matthew!

iQuiz could be the next iPod game

First off, we've got to ask: Is anyone else really sick of the letter "i?"

After briefly appearing in the French iTunes Store, iQuiz became the most likely candidate for the next iPod game to be released. Which is good, because I've pretty much mastered that mini golf game.

According to Electronista, iQuiz will build on the text-based quiz game that shipped with iPod nanos and fifth generation iPods with the addition of a user interface. It's uncertain if the game will be released on its own or as a part of a future update to the iTunes Store. As soon as we see it, we'll let you know.

Tip of the Day

Use Spotlight as a reference tool. Type any word in the Spotlight box and one of the top entries will be a definition. Click on it, and it will bring up the dictionary application to check the word in either the dictionary, thesaurus, Apple database, or Wikipedia.
