SeisMac

Living in San Francisco is great; the weather is fantastic, the people are friendly, and I challenge you to find a city with a higher concentration of geeks. However, one does have to keep in mind that although this town may seem perfect, a deadly force lies dormant beneath my feet, waiting to unleash its fury upon this techie metropolis in a few seconds of violent earth shaking. In plainer words; this here is earthquake country.

Lucky for those of us who spend working hours staring at our 'Books, Suitable Systems has released SeisMac, a new program which takes data from the motion sensor in your later model PowerBook, MacBook, or MacBook Pro, and presents it as a fancy-shmancy scientific seismograph. SeisMac is available as a free download.
