Eye-Fi Mobile X2 Card: Direct Mode Picture Transfer with Mobile Apps

Developers at Eye-Fi Wi-Fi enabled SDHC memory cards have unveiled a new capability today, enabling users to transfer images from a digital camera to a mobile device using Wi-Fi Direct Mode along with dedicated Eye-Fi mobile applications, even in the absence of a conventional wireless network.

This innovation was initially announced back in January and is now ready for release.

Starting April 17, the new 8 GB Mobile X2 card featuring Direct Mode will be available for purchase at a price of US$79.99.

Additionally, a complimentary firmware update will be provided a week later to existing X2 card holders to enhance their devices with this new feature.

Direct Mode facilitates the seamless transfer of photos from a digital camera to mobile devices using the new Eye-Fi apps for iOS and Android, eliminating the need for physical cables.
