More wild speculation about possible flash iPod/phonePod
Mac zealots everywhere are trying to predict what Apple is cooking up next for the iPod. Could it be a
flash-based iPod of small capacity? We know
Apple is buying flash memory from Toshiba, but
perhaps the memory will be used in a phonePod device
instead. Everybody’s an expert, but nobody really knows anything.
The absence of factual content seems to be a great creativity booster. Here are some other ideas about what’s in store
for everybody’s favorite music player:
- iPod as receiver for your own local streaming server
- iPod controlled by your Bluetooth phone
- the ultra-minimalist iPod
What do you think? Any of these have any merit? Anybody else want to throw a design into the fray?

PhonePod who came up with that? Could see iPhone and would buy one. But it wouldn't just be a phone...it would have three components just like music...
1) iPhone (iPod)...the device.
2) iMessage (iTunes)...Manages all your numbers and calls for cell/land/VoIP.
3) iMessage Center (iTunes Music Store)...Ringtones, VoIP/Cell Service.
Of the other three ideas, No, No, Maybe :-)

I really like the Bluetooth-only iPod micro concept. And, since I really like the idea of an iPhone, too, how about making both, symbiotic?
How about a tiny iPod micro hanging from your ears, with only a volume knob and play/pause key, the advanced controls and display being deported to the iPhone, and a microphone, so it's also acting as a Bluetooth headset?
Both could also be sold separately (the iPod micro would have limited functionality without the BT phone, but still be usable) and would make the perfect combo together. I don't really expect Apple to release that, but it would be just great.

well if the mock-ups of the flash ipod are anything like the actual device - and there's no screen - then controlling the flash ipod with a bluetooth phone makes a lot of sense.
making even more sense would be apple providing their own phone to use as the screen/controller.
anxious to see an Apple cell phone...been needing (wanting) a new cell phone for a little while now...

It's official, it's a phone. Just saw the announce from Moto and Apple on the Forbes site.

But if it's a Motorola-built phone (and it can hardly be the contrary, a Motorola-designed, Apple-built phone), it wouldn't really justify a deal between a Flash memory manufacturer and _Apple_, would it?
