Sexohol shuffle: First iPod shuffle Album Promotion
This has to be the greatest news to come
from the West Coast in . . . hours: Today, the Los Angeles-based band Sexohol has
released their first album, “Enjoy!”, via iPod shuffle with a CD release due on April 30th. The 12-song album comes
pre-loaded on the Sexohol-stickered iPod shuffle (pictured to the right). The 512MB Sexohol shuffle holds up to 108
additional songs for just $109, while the 1GB Sexohol shuffle holds up to 228 additional songs for just $159.
If you are like me, you’re probably wondering “Who is Sexohol?” Well, their site describes the band as the “taste treat that’s fun to eat” and the lead singer, Roger Quickly, is sporting some sort of head tattoo / shaving / skull cap that looks like a bad mash up of Darth Maul and tribal tattooing, if that tells you anything. They actually have Quicktime streaming versions of their songs available for your listening pleasure as well.
Whether you like Sexohol’s music or not, this is a cool use of the iPod shuffle as a promotional item that we will most likely be seeing more often.

But you can't get songs off the shuffle!

Yes you can. Launch Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and type in:
open /Volumes/YOURiPODSHUFFLESNAME/iPod_Control/Music/F**
Replace YOURiPODSHUFFLESNAME with the actual name of your shuffle. If there is a space in the shuffle's name place a before it.
This will open all the invisible folders containing your music in Finder windows where you can drag them wherever you like.

Yeah but hardly wha someone buying a shuffle as a marketing tool is going to expect to have to do to use their new songs!

while this promotional gimmick is likely to get them mentioned on all kinds of blog, it seems like a pretty expensive way to get your music out there. the new band specific itunes card circulating at SXSW http://playlistmag.com/news/2005/03/17/customicards/ makes much more sense to me.

We also include the songs in a folder on the flash drive partition so you can easily drag them into you iTunes library.
Re: the "bad mash up" head tattoo--
But, but, my stylist said all the cool kids were doing it! Oh no!
