Mouse Pads No More?
Apple Store employees have always be very courteous and friendly to me. Whenever I find myself in one of Apple's retail outlets the crew of the store are helpful and not overbearing (no hard sells, as they say in the biz). However, I never asked for a mouse pad. Dan Cederholm, of Simple Bits, did just that and the Apple fellow apparently answered haughtily that the Apple Store never carried anything as archaic as a mouse pad.
The Missing Bite has a bunch of vintage Apple mouse pads, in case anyone is interested (Dan got his at an office store after the rebuffing).

What I am really looking for is an Apple flag for my flagpole. Right now I'm flying a Jolly Roger. Help anyone?

Not a hard sell? Please. Every time I walk in I'm prompted--heavily--to get a .Mac account. I was in there a month ago to get an iMac for my mom. They guy would not accept NO for an answer when he asked if I wanted .Mac. I literally had to demonstrate to him that I knew what the features were and that I had no use for them before he'd shut up. Same with ProCare and iWork. I'm in Florida, so at least they didn't push APP on me. :-/

strange how that apple store employee had such arrogance when asked about mousepads. when Panther came out, they were actually giving away Panther mousepads to everyone who came in the store. i think i have two.

I think if you know anyone from Apple you can get more OS X mats than you'd know what to do with. My Apple business manager brought me a couple of dozen the last time he visited.

it is getting soo annoying, my apple mouse im using is being used on a shiny desk and it just wont work, ive been after an apple mouse mat for 6 months now and last week i lost an auction on ebay to some guy that was paying up $150 for it, but its not worth that much for a mouse mat !!
i still think that apple should give out mouse mats either when you visit the store or if they just come in the box. (would make it so much easier)
