Read this if your Quicktime 7 is BROKEN under 10.3.x
One of the more vexing issues affecting pre-Tiger QT 7 installs happens when you try to Show Movie Properties. I witnessed this issue on a handful of machines this weekend. My solution was a tried and true one: "Don't do that!" A MacFixit reader has a better idea.
Here's what you do:
- Quit Quicktime
- In System Preferences-> International, change your language to something other than what it is set to.
- Quit System Preferences (logout and re-login may be required).
- Relaunch System Preferences and change the language back to your preferred setting.
- Try Quicktime again. "Show Movie Properties..." should now work.
As a reminder, if you're cursing the day you ever heard of QT 7 and you're still running 10.3.9, you can revert back to QT 6.5.2 using Apple's QuickTime 6.5.2 re-installer.

I removed as much of QuickTime 7 as I could from my computer because I wanted to download Creative Commons music and could not figure out how to do so with QuickTime 7; the right click doesn't work and neither does option clicking. I can't install previous editions of QuickTime because I keep getting a message that some vestige of QuickTime 7 is still in my computer somewhere and the software that reverts it to 6.5.2 insists that I do not have the right version of 7 to revert from. I am thinking of a clean install. I still use Panther at this point and see no reason to change for at least several months because it meets all of my needs at this time.
