iPod in danger of not being cool
We all know that the President rocks out to an iPod, though he doesn't have time to load it up with music. It seems everyone has an iPod, and when everyone has one can iPods be cool? The New York Times ponders this very weighty question and concludes that Apple will need to be ever vigilant in order to forestall an iPod backlash. The article is amusing, though it does call the iPod Photo 'the iPhoto,' which of course it isn't.
The quote pretty much sums it up for me, 'With simple styling and an easy-to-use format, it is little surprise that even the president has stumbled upon the iPod. Apple has a daunting 75 percent of the digital music player market, dominating companies like Dell and Samsung'

Will it be cool?...Doesn't matter! The Walkman was cool when it came out. It lost it's coolness and Sony went on to sell a bizillion of the things.

I got rid of my white headphones because of that reason. I don't want to be another "trendy" person. Mmmmmm... 20GB of techno.

Surely "even" in the sentence "with simple styling and an easy-to-use format, it is little surprise that even the president has stumbled upon the iPod" should be deleted? ;-)

Who cares if having an iPod is cool or not? It all matters what scene a person is in and how much they believe looking cool is importaint to them. I personally am happy i do not have to care a bajillion cds around with me to carry most of my music collection with me.

You lot are losers. iPods are soooooo 2004. I've got a Mac mini and a little generator with a crank handle. No flat batteries for me! My arm is getting quite large though.

I'm not so worried about being cool or not. An iPod is not a fashion statement rather an extension of my needs. What is a problem however is having to buy a new iPod every 1 year due to the battery problem. I'm on my 2nd iPod now and once again after a year of use, I've been forced to buy my 3rd iPod. This is not cool...
