iPodderX 3.0 reviewed
The hipsters at MacMerc got a sneak peak at the new version of iPodderX
3.0, which is "coming soon."The feature list is impressive so far: Support for Vlogging (video blogs), iTunes and iPhoto integration, RSS newsfeed reading, "SmartSpace" controls so you can limit how much of your drive gets consumed by all those podcasts, and Newscasting, which is speech synthesized MP3 files that read your RSS feeds to you. It costs $24.95 to register, but registered users of iPodderX 2.0 will get the upgrade to 3.0 for free.
iTunes 4.9 is shaking in its boots already.
Based on their review, I'm in love with iPodderX 3.0 already - and I don't even like podcasts! I'm going to download iPodderX 2.0 to keep me company while I wait for the 3.0 release.

And yet, sadly, IPX 3.0 is probably the buggiest piece of software in recent memory. In roughly five minutes of use, I not only failed to download my subscribed podcasts (using the prefs from version 2.9), but I also accidentally deleted half of my subscribe list due to a bug with the "cancel" button. I had to go back to using 2.9 in order to make things right again. Throw in the omnipresent whirling beach ball o' death and you've got a breathlessly hyped shareware product that fails to deliver. Heck, go to the ipodderx.com forums and read the reams of bug reports and troubleshooting requests. Hopefully, these problems will be solved in an update or two, but the fact that they actually made it into a non-beta version is discouraging and makes me question the abilities of the developers.
