Adam Curry gives Steve Jobs input on iPod features
In his May 23 Daily Source Code, Adam Curry apparently said "The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, about an hour and a half that we had with Steve Jobs, which was really fun. Just a private conversation, and that was great. Of course I can't tell you everything that we talked about, but I will say that I was able to provide a lot of input. The number one great piece of input that I was able to feed back was, hey, I want to record on my iPod. And I can guarantee you that's going to happen some time in the near future."
Is there a money back guarentee on this, Adam? I just want to make sure I'm covered before I start wanting it too much. The iTalk just ain't cutting it for me.
[Thanks, Shig!]

Curry can't keep his big mouth shut can he? Well, thats one more person off the Steve Jobs 'private conversation' list.
I'm sorry, but I can't stand Curry and his sudo-Radio 1-fun-fm styled bollocks... not really the place to vent my adam-curry-anger? sorry Mac people.

That's awesome. I hope that recording really does make the cut of next features for the next iPod. That means I can stop dragging my pBook around with me everywhere, and stop worrying about dropping it again, when I want to record stuff. No offense Apple, but your iBook is my preferred because it takes a drop better then the powerbook, and both are really to big to take on recording sessions in remote places.

Uh, Callum, you might want to try decaf :-)
Laurie, I'm interested in what exactly you don't like about the iTalk. My first (oh, and only) podcast was done through the iTalk, and it worked brilliantly. The only issue was conversions, which are just horrific in OSX (can't convert a WAV to MP3 in QT Pro-- wha?).
So this will be interesting, because Apple has to walk that fine line between making pirates, uh, consumers happy, and keeping the RIAA sharks at bay...

Besides the fact that you already can record with your iPod using Podzilla,

I can imagine Steve said something like, "OK, we'll un-cripple that feature in the next update."

Victor- I agree that Quicktime's inability to export to mp3 is more than a bit odd. However, this can be accomplished with iTunes, although it's not always obvious. One must first change the "Import" preference under iTunes' Preferences to the desired format, drag the audio file into iTunes, then go to the "Convert" menu item under the "Advanced" menu. I wish the "Convert" menu item included all the options in a sub menu instead of necessitating the trip to iTunes' Preferences menu- the "Convert" menu shouldn't rely on the default format selected by the "Import" preference.

Victor: Nothing wrong with the iTalk, except that you have to have it. I'd like to be able to plug any old microphone directly into the iPod and go, and the only reason we can't is the iPod software. And, as others already implied, recording quality is intentionally hobbled.
Robert: Much as I'd love to use Podzilla, I've got a 4G iPod, which still is unsupported. Otherwise I'd jump at it.
