it does exist. i own it. it's great, simple. can't get something like applecare for it, but hey it's a great back up for my iPod Photo which just had hardware faiure -- like oh so many of the iPods have. Apple is not some white light in the tech world -- Jobs is just as money hungry as Gates. Their pricing for software updates, the hardware failures w/ iPod, and on and on prove it. I love my iPod, when it works.
