Some of you may have noticed Laurie's recent absence from TUAW. Her mother has cancer and made an unexpected trip to the hospital this weekend. She's showing improvement today but things are still touch and go.

Please keep Laurie and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

We have our own in-network Cancer blog if you want to know more about the disease. If you want to help, consider helping with cancer research with your Mac or donating to another cancer charity.

Tell your mom to hang in there, Laurie! Have her unquestionably decide that she will survive and make it though this thing. A beings power of decision has unthinkable strength and Laurie, if your mother decides without reservations in her mind that she wants to live; she will, without a shadow of doubt.

Keep hope alive! A few years ago my uncle was diagnosed with lung cancer and was given a very poor chance at living over a year. After surgery and chemo he recovered and his cancer is now in permanent remission. It's a terrible thing to have to go through, but it doesn't have to be as bad as it sounds. My prayers are with you!
