Attention Apple: Canada is not a U.S. territory
Earlier today while reading Splorp, a favorite blog of mine, I came across this post. Seems that, buried deep within the help files for Apple's DVD Player is the screen depicted at the right, which mistakenly lists Canada as a U.S. territory. We may share some land mass with our next door neighbors, but that's really where it ends. See a full version of the screenshot in Splorp's Flickr account. Oops.

LOL Wishful thinking on Apple's part?
I've often wanted to be the guy who writes documentation you know that very few people will read...

who the hell cares? It's just a typo. It's not like Apple is personally bashing Canada on purpose. ONE GUY IN A CUBICLE wrote that documentation, it wasn't like Steve Jobs was doing it or anything.

*looks around shifty eyed* Drat! Foiled again.
I can't believe that Apple, king of secrets, couldn't keep the US's military strategy under wraps.
Nothing to see here. Move along...

Well, it's about time that we foreclose on Canada anyway. Way to go Apple!

I know it's just a typo. I'm not condemning Apple, I just thought it was an amusing error.

Intrigued, I went and chez on my computer to find that contrary to the US version of OS X, my French-Canadian version says Canada, US and its territories (my translation for Canada, ?ats-Unis et territoires des ?ats-Unis)... hum...

"Well, it's about time that we foreclose on Canada anyway."
I don't think us Americans should be throwing around the word "foreclose" just now.

Hahaha! This is just my kind of humor, and, Alex K, that's why I care. Canada's expected us to try to annex them for hundreds of years. Maybe Apple is finally going to make it happen. Time to buy some AAPL.

There seems to be this abiding feeling among Canadians that the U.S. wants Canada. Americans in truth DON'T CARE about Canada and think of it (when they think of it at all, which is almost never) as ice-bound. This is reminiscent of Britain's "51st state" concerns back in the '60s. Current events to the contrary (God, I hope they're to the contrary), Americans are a peace-loving people who yearn for picket fences, clapboard houses, and home-baked good ol' American apple pie. However, my Canadian friends, should there ever be a run on ice cubes, well...

Apple's just envious of our health care system :)

Please, please take us over and free us from the socialized dictatorship that those left winged crooks in Ottawa have foisted upon us over the last 50 years. The natural ruling party here has stolen, misplaced and given away billions in taxpayers money over the last 10 years. Annexation is our only hope.

Its amazing how the so called intelligent people on both sides of the boarder can act so stupid over a simple typo error that does no harm to any one.

Hey guys, time to take the aluminum foil off of your head. When you outsource your programming to places like India, Russsia, and the Phillipines, what do you expect?
