New iPods on the way?
AppleInsider reported yesterday that Apple is planning a high-profile product launch on July 7th. Invitiations have been distributed to media outlets (hey, Steve: where's mine?), but there are no public details yet. We know that iTunes 4.9 is scheduled for launch soon, but AppleInsider speculates we might see some new hardware as well. They're leaning toward a 2nd gen Shuffle and a new iPod Photo. TUAW reader Eric notes, however, that shipping on the 20G iPods has been delayed, as well as shipping for the 30G and 60G iPod Photos, but you can still have your Shuffle tomorrow. Of course this is all circumstantial, but it's certainly food for thought.

We all have had our opinions on the lawsuits that Apple has filed, but my gosh they have worked well. Hardware leaks are very rare now.

You may well be right, but unless the phone is going to be Apple branded--which is unlikely--I think there's going to be more to whatever's happening on the 7th.

I am dying to upgrade my iPod Mini, an iPod Photo would be great, but I don't like it in white.

What about "Asteroid" that break-out box idea... If that were mixed in with iTunes (to aid creation of Podcasts) it would be pretty nice, I say that but just the other day Apple we're in my inbox bigging up some 3rd party product that did just this.
So - maybe something new? I'm bored with the iPod now, it does what it does leave it at that back to the Computers, Apple!

I just noticed that tek serve is having a clearence sale on 1GB Shuffle's and iPod Photo's. I think its time for a video ipod, and maybe a bigger shuffle? And, well... i dunno, a screen??

Its possible for Video iPoddage, since we know that it's capable of video, and considering that all iPods are now color...
but I think that iTunes software for Motorola phones (note the phrasing of words there, but I really really hope I'm wrong and Apple will put out a GSM phone).
