New Mac Mini?
Tamb01 on the Mac Bidouille forums just ordered a new 1.42 Ghz Mac Mini. He's not getting it:J'ai une commande en cours sur l'Apple Store.
MACMINI 1.42GHZ/512/80G/CMD/F
Est. Build On or before 11/07/2005
Replaced with new product
No word yet on what they're replacing it with
(Thanks to Vincent for pointing this out, and assuring me that it translates as "you have just placed an order" and not "you have just asked for the heart of the Apple Store" or you have just cursed the Apple Store". French was never my strong suit.)

"No word yet on what they're replacing it with (or why they're not guarnateeing it before September) "
You'd probably have to speak to the local Guarnatee Chief for that information! Dont forget...

I think in france 11/07/2005 would mean July 11th 2005. Im pretty sure that the month and date are reversed over there.

Steve you are right! I did not noticed that, in French and Most Spanish speaking countries the order is Day/month/year.
Ohh, please let the announcement include iBooks!

No matter how you look at that date it's really not that easy to get September out of it as it's the 9th month.
Steve's right, it is due on the eleventh of July.

I ordered a Mac mini yesterday...a 1.25 GHz, 40 GB, 512 MB RAM, and superdrive and it says it will ship on or before the 1st. I wonder if I'll get a delayed email or if his information is wrong. Apple usually doesn't say replaced with new product on anything in it's store.
If this does turn out to be an update next week. Is it possible to return something to Apple when you buy online?

Steve and Mike:
Thanks. July 11th is almost certainly the correct date. And as for how September = November...well, my doctor and I are going to talk about the meds later. ;)

As for that day/month thingie, it's English speaking countries vs. Non-English speaking countries, not just French and Spanish.

Actually on the whole day/month thing, it's not English-speaking countries versus non-English speaking countries. I think you'll find that in England (where I'm from) we've *always* had it as day/month/year, and therefore it's only the North Americans that have this weird month/day system...

@Ian
It's the same here in Canada too... it's not "north americans" that do month/day/year.. just "americans". Canadian dates are formated day/month/year too. I may live in North America but I'm definitely not an American.

By the same token, everybody that lives in the continent America, is an American. Just as the people on the other side of the pond are Europeans

It's just us crazy Americans who have the messed up date ordering, so far as I know. Interestingly enough, when I tried to change my Time and Date system preferences to order things in year-month-day order (which seems to me the "right" way to do it, since a complete time stamp is then in descending order as year-month-day hour:minute:second), I ran into a bug in which System Preferences kept resetting the order to one default (say, the short date) when I changed another (say, the long date), unless I made the changes in a particular order. Very strange behavior on the part of System Preferences, but not as strange as the American system of month/day/year!

Wow. This is just the news I was waiting for. I'm selling my G4 iMac and trading up for a Mac mini. Of course, I was going to wait until after July 7 before I actually bought anything. Anyway, I remember when I ordered a 10 gig iPod and I got this e-mail saying it was replaced with a new product, the 15 gig second generation iPod. Needless to say, this made my day! This is another reason I like Apple. I have a sneaking suspician most other companies would ship you what you originally ordered and hope you didn't return it.

It looks like metric countries use day/month/year and non-metric countries (the US and... hmmm? yeah, just the US!) use month/day/year.

Doesn't most of the world use the year-month-day format for dating?

maybe, just maybe, we can expect to see the words ibm powerpc replaced with the words intel pentium already? (hoping and praying) i would love to have an intel mac mini already, becuase i tried a mac mini at the local best buy and loved tiger, the visuals are great, definately will use tiger as my main os, but unfortunately, still need windows for my games, as i play half life and counter strike. don't go flaming me just because i depend on windows xp, it will only be there for games. i think the mac mini would be great for lan parties since its so small, which i do attend many times, and have to steal our family hp pavilion, so my own mac mini would be great, especially if i can get windows for my games. and all you fanboys don't go flaming me either because i'm installing win xp on the mini.
