Apple counts down to half a billion songs sold
Today Apple announced a contest to determine who will purchase the 500 millionth song from the iTunes Music Store. Apple is giving away an iPod mini and an iTunes gift card for 50 songs
to the iTunes customer who purchases the winning song at each 100,000
interval. To that lucky shopper who hits 500,000,000 however, Apple is going all out: "10 iPods for yourself and family or friends (choose from any model iPod, iPod mini, iPod U2, or iPod shuffle); a gold 10,000-song gift card for the music store; 10 additional 50-song gift cards to go with those iPods; and a trip for you and three guests to see Coldplay on its current tour, with front-row seats (subject to availability), and “back-stage” passes for a meet n’ greet with the band (guaranteed availability)."
Wow. Time to obsessively sit in front of that counter.

Where is the counter? I don't see one on the page linked. Oh well, guess its time to actually get some songs from iTunes.

July 05 2005 at 10:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDude, I am so going to win this -- and I'm going to win it with a 7-11 Slurpee free song. I'm getting all my friends to buy Slurpees, then I offer to take care of the garbage... ho ho ho... soon, I will take over the world, one Slurpee at a time...

July 05 2005 at 2:00 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI like the fact that the main winner gets to choose which type of iPods they want. Like anyone would choose 512Mb shuffles when they could have TEN 60Gb full-size iPods?!?!
July 05 2005 at 11:06 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOh man, I just sat there yesterday and bought a boatload of tunes, Michael Buble, Ringo Starr, some other stuff. Gee Whiz, what rotten timeing. I wanna iPod.

July 05 2005 at 10:31 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhere's the widget that displays the counter?
