Bare Bones updates free TextWrangler 2.1
If you're looking for a text editor that has multiple-file search capabilities, "grep" support, support for FTP and SFTP access, extensive scripting support and more, you need not spend a dime. TextWrangler 2 is Bare Bones Software's free (as in free) alternative to their rockin' BBEdit package. BBedit offers a more robust featureset for web authors and software developers, but for pure text and light authoring, TextWrangler really shines. The version 2.1 update offers bug fixes and other enhancements.
If you haven't tried it - you really should. It costs you nothing but a few MB of hard drive space.

The "you really should" link points to the download area which currently only links to the outdated 2.0 release - go to "Versions" to get the link to the 2.1 release.

I love this program mainly because it is a beast that opens anything. If I have a file that won't do anything when I double click it, or I simply don't know what it is, I just drag it over the TextWrangler icon and it opens up so I can see what is inside. Freeware doesn't get much better than this program from a quality stand point.
