Bring Macworld Back to NYC
Greg Ng over at Apple Matters laments this year's Macworld in Boston, noting: "Last year I said, 'Screw Apple. If you dont want to come that's fine. We'll have a great showing in spite of you.' This year my offcial stance is, 'Apple, please come back and save this pitiful excuse for Mac geeks to get together and get off work.'" I'm starting not to regret not being able to go as much.
Greg ends his piece, writing, "Living in the Boston area, I will always appreciate my convenient proximity. But next year, this should be back in NYC. Hear that Apple? You win. Im crying uncle. Take us back and put us out of our misery!" I agree.
Dear Steve Jobs & Macworld organizers,
Please return Macworld to the capital of the world, NYC and bring a keynote with product announcements, please. The two Apples belong together.
Sincerely,
C.K. Sample, III

Since somebody just posted a complaint about me referencing NYC as the Capital of the World (but didn't clear the comment), I thought I would offer my preemptive rebuttal against any other nay-sayers:
1. New York City is commonly referred to as the Capital of the World in New York.
2. There are reasons for this. Most notably, because it is an international city filled with nearly every culture. The United Nations are based here.
3. This bit from the Wikipedia's entry on NYC covers it nicely: "is at the center of international finance, politics, communications, music, fashion, and culture. New York City is among the world's most important global cities, as it is home to a virtually unrivaled collection of world-class museums, galleries, performance venues, media outlets, international corporations, and stock exchanges. The city is also home to all of the international embassies to the United Nations, itself headquartered in New York City."
4. You should note that NYC is not an American capital or state capital. The state capital of NY is Albany. The capital of the USA is Washington, D.C. I don't think NYC's title as Capital of the World is a particularly US-centric affirmation, but rather an affirmation of the foothold the global community has in NYC.
Of course, that's my take on it. Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't trying to be close-mindedly anti-world.

NYC is NOT the capital of the world, however much Americans think it is.

Didn't the east coast MacWorld Expo start its downward spiral when it was moved to NYC? :)
In any event I wouldn't expect Apple to come back even if the show were moved back to NYC. For Apple the WWDC has replaced the east coast MacWorld. The WWDC offers lots of advantages for Apple not the least of which are the WWDC is local to Cupertino and Apple controls the WWDC not IDG.

I concur! Bring it back to the Apple! (My own reasons are wholly selfish. I've got nothing against Boston)
