How To Install Wikka on OS X
Dario, one of the developers on the WikkaWiki team, wrote in responding to my last week's query about what wikis run well on OS X. He wanted to point out that there is a full how to in Wikka's documentation (which is also run via WikkaWiki) for installing Wikka on OS X. According to the how to: "Installing WikkaWiki to run on your Mac takes only a few minutes. All the installation is done through a web-based wizard and you should not need to open the terminal a single time. Once the installation is complete, you will have a full Wikka system running on your machine and ready to play with."
Sounds pretty easy. What are you waiting for?
Thanks, Dario!

Thanks for posting a link to the Wikka/OSX tutorial. I'd like to add a further remark on the question "Why would you want a wiki?". The wiki-skeptic will probably reply: "Hey, but do you *really* want a wiki?! You only need a wiki if you want to set up a website that can be edited by anyone". This is - helas - a very popular (and flawed) argument used against wiki software. It not only assumes that wiki software is just a content management tool lacking access restriction (which is false for most modern wiki engines). It also overlooks the fundamental distinction between wiki *content* (content that usually results from collaborative editing by multiple users) and wiki *software* (the software running a wiki). Wiki software is a actually a flexible solution for different kinds of use, spanning the personal, community and public levels. Download the image, copy the application somewhere to your harddrive, doubleclick -> Instiki is running.
