This year's ADHOC was the last ADHOC
MacMegaSite is reporting that this year's ADHOC (formerly MacHack) was the last one. Expotech, folks running for conference, site declining attendence numbers, higher attendance cost, and fewer vendors.Since I don't consider myself a hacker I never really considered attending, however, I have only heard good things about the conference itself.
What will rise to take ADHOC's place?

Dunno about others, but Classic didn't come preinstalled on my Mac Mini, so that's not really an issue. Unless they changed that with recent releases.
I switched my machine to boot from my 160GB external drive, and just use the internal as a backup for the boot system.

Maybe it had something to do with this:

This would be a real shame, especially since there were some really big vendors involved this year, and I can't imagine it would anything but bigger once the x86 machines start hitting. The Mac is in the process of becomming a more, not less, hackable platform. It's been getting harder to schedule, though; the Summer's a lot busier for conferences thatn it was 20 years ago.
It'd be a shame, though, to see it disappear.

One of the sessions was "Hacking the kernel for unsupported machines". He talked mostly about current machines but touched on the subject of x86. I think next year would have been especially interesting.
