Dear Safari RSS Team

Safari IconD'Arcy Norman, whose blog is one of my regular reads, has written an open letter to the Safari RSS team, pointing out some key spots where he'd like to see some improvements in Safari RSS. Since I like most of his points, I thought I'd point to them to help make them a bit more visible.

Among D'Arcy's requests for Safari RSS:
  • New item only view
  • Collapsible / expandable entries
  • Improved scheduled updates
There are more listed, but these were my three favorites. What features would you add if you had a Safari RSS developer's ear?

How about if when you paste a RSS link into the download window it downloads the actual RSS file instead of modifying it with Safari's RSS display code and giving you that file.

I'd like Safari to include support for WYSIWYG editing in Rich Text Format like it is used by Gmail, TypePad and many other sites...! Right now the only Mac browser able to do that is Firefox, which I just don't like...!! (Please refrain from telling me what a great app that is, I've heard it all before! ;-)

I'd like all of the "Weblogs Inc" sites to quit using uncollapsable RSS feeds. I have everything else shunken down to just show headlines, yet Engadget and TUAW both put the ENTRIE ARTICLE including images into the feed. Bastards.

I donno, I'm not that impressed by the whole interface. I think it could have been handled better. I'd like to see really wholesale changes in the entire RSS workflow.

Additional date filters, "Mark feed as read" button to be able to mark a specific one as read, clearing the "new"ness for all dates.
