Disembowelled Mighty Mouse
The good folks at Ars Technica were sick and tired of Japanese Mac fans having all the fun taking apart the newest Apple gear. What did they do about it? They sacrificed their brand new Mighty Mouse by ripping it apart for curious Macheads to take a look at the innards and marvel at Apple's hardware engineers' cleverness. What did they find hiding within the white exterior of the Mighty Mouse? A speaker for one (some people doubted me on this one), a place where a capacitor could be put (for a Bluetooth version perhaps?), and a bunch of other optical mouse type things.
The most interesting part of this article? When they call the Apple Store and see if they have any more Mighty Mouses (Mice?). The Apple rep tells them that they are sold out but there is a floor model to test out. I'll leave the punch line to the original article, but it is chuckle worthy.

Scott McNulty, I would like to commend you on the way you handled stephen, aka Mr. Grumpy. Way to bite your tounge dude. I don't always like the stories posted here. Some days are better than others. On the "bad" days (for me) I skim the headline and move on. This all reminds me of a quote from a certain comedy, "You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me." Oops, wrong quote. =P I meant these, "Shut the f* up Donnie." "Life does not stop and start at your convenience, you miserable piece of s*."

Go to any computer store and try to buy mouses and you'll find plenty of mice in their place.

Metaphors do not take the irregular forms of the plural for example : Toronto Maple Leafs - not one of the players is actually a Leaf. The best example comes from family names such as Rothschild. We don't refer to them collectively as "Rothschildren", we call them the Rothchilds. .
August 04 2005 at 4:26 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHehe, I was actually waiting for a post like this. A few weeks ago I was thinking about how Apple could make a 'two' button mouse but keep the sleek look for the Pro Mouse, and they did it. Now I want to see what makes this thing tick. Cmon people, its not like there's much Mac news to talk about at the moment.

August 04 2005 at 11:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStephen, I'm not going to edit your comment out, so feel free to say what you think. Now, I agree that sometimes my (I can't speak for the other bloggers) are not 'news worthy,' but I think that they are at least entertaining (I could be wrong on that account). As for cover the same thing 8 times in 26 hours, well I suppose if you think that the Mighty Mouse meritted only one post then we're guilty as charged. However, each of those posts covered something different (and only one was about l33t photoshop skillz). As for ads, who visits the actual website anymore? Get yourself a copy of NetNewsWire Lite (the free version) and then the only adds you will see on TUAW's feed are some text adds at the bottom of the post that are easily ignored.... I mean, that are easily clickable since they will take you to valuable services and goods that interest you.
August 04 2005 at 10:34 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replymy apologies. i forgot that you guys have to post a certain number of times per month, so you can get paid. regardless of whether or not its total crap. "LOLZ, I PHOTOSHOPPED AN EARRING ONTO MY MOUSE. WRITE AN ARTICLE ABOUT IT!!!!1111!!!!" Pretty bad that a weblog that is supposed to be about the technology used by the most creative people in the world can't come up with any content without having to cover the same thing 8 times in 26 hours. I'm sure this will get edited out. However, I thing that if you guys are going to bother doing this, you really do need to come up with some good stuff. It's bad enough trying to read through your ad-ridden pages (which, by the way, take up 45% of my browsing space) .
August 04 2005 at 10:27 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell, Stephen, not too much is going on in the world of Apple other than the Mighty Mouse, the iTMS Japan, and Henrico county. We could start making up news like Appleinsider...
