Doom ported to iPod
I didn't think this was real when I first read it, but apparently it is. The iPodLinux group has ported a playable version of Doom to the iPod. Specifically, it is "...playable on the iPod photo," and it "...'works' on 1-4G's and Mini 1G/2G." You can save games and play saved games. What will those Linux developers think of next?Of course, you've got to have Linux running on your iPod in order for this to work, a proposal that's not for everyone (there has not yet been a stable release for non-developers). If you're comfortable with that and willing to try it out, we'd love to hear about your experience. Drop us a line in the comments or via our tips form.

If you remember, "sosumi" in one of the Apple beep sounds... but you knew that. But did you know... Apple, when they first named the company had contacted Apple Records (remember them?) They said it was ok to use the name Apple as long as they didn't do "music." When Apple created soundbuilt-in on their next gen of computers, they created the sound "sosumi." Just a bit of Apple trivia from someone who owned a II+ and 128k...
