Not a big fan of Dashboard? Well
don't kill it just yet, it may earn you some free tunes.
Brian Stucki is trying to collect as many Dashboard screenshots as he can, and to that end he's created a contest. The person who sends him the greatest number of screenshots of his/her Dashboard with the widgets in various configurations will win a $30 gift certificate to the iTunes Music Store. Here are the specifics:
- Any Screen Resolution is ok.
- Send in as many as you’d like, but be sure that each one is different. (change out widgets, move them around, or have a different desktop behind the dashboard.)
- Please be aware of any personal info you may have on your dashboard, such as a WAN ip address.
- Multiple submissions will be grouped by email address so be sure to send from the same address each time. More then one screenshot per email is ok.
- The contest will end Monday Aug, 15, 2005.
So spend a few minutes clicking away, send Brian your snaps and maybe win some music.

Some people have asked what I want the dashboard screenshots for. I am planning to make some mosaic pictures using the dashboard screen shots as the tiles. Something like poster sizes of the dashboard icon, or the apple logo, composed of all the little screenshots.
I do plan to make the final images available to the public as well, in case anyone wants to print their own posters out.
Looking forward to your screenshots. =)

Brian, cool idea–I'm a big fan of those mosaic pics. An easy way to streamline the screenshot process for this would be to use a program such as snapz pro, record your desktop at 1fps, set your desktop image to change every 5 seconds, then continue to mess around with the widget locations etc and stop snapz pro capture process. Open the screen capture movie in quicktime pro, then export it as a jpeg sequence. That should up the ante a little for the peeps wanting some free music!
Anyways, for anyone that is interested I actually animated a mosaic in After Effects:

good luck brian, definitely let us know when you've finished!

Wow, that is a great idea. Now if we can get 10 people to do it with me...imagine all the options there would be for the Mosaic Picture.
And the good chances at getting the certificates!

I've had some people how they can send alot at once. My suggestion.
1) Put it in a zip file and send it with http://www.yousendit.com/
2) put it on your server, and just send the url. I'll download it.
We've been having good support! I hope we'll get enough for the posters.

Along the lines of Adrians tip, you can have your background change every 5 seconds and use this program...which works real nice and is free.

Just be sure to alter it so it takes the shot ever 5 seconds or so...and move those widgets around constantly.
