iBeat glow-in-the-dark headphones

ibeat glowing earbudsIf you often iPod in the dark, these are for you. The iBeat "illuminating headphones" work with all iPods (well pretty much anything with a standard mini jack) and come in neon pink, white, blue, orange and green. You can glow steady or pulse to the music - your choice. I can see the club kiddies going wild for these.

I'd buy a pair just for fun, but I am so very annoyed by the obnoxious audio assault I was presented with when I landed on their website (with no way to turn it off), that I have decided not to give them my money.

As Gizmodo points out, these are also perfect for helping iPod muggers aim in the dark.

I see some of you find the site a bit lacking in information. Our apologies, This intro is a placeholder only. The new and improved ibeat site will be up and running this evening. There will be more information and yes, you will have the option of skipping the intro. Please revisit ibeatusa.com later this evening (pacific time). Thank you very much for all your input.

Well as every modder or medium-sized avian knows, adding things that light up and/or shiny improves the performance. Oh, and stickers work too. Lots of stickers.

Is it just me, or does that look like a photo of a guy who just had is iPod shoved up his ass?

That must be one of the worst site designs ever. No way to skip the intro, or mute the sound. And then you don't even get any propper information, just a "mailto" link. I' refuse to purchase anything from them until they improve their site, even though I think the headphones are pretty nifty.

Yeah..... given the recent history of ipod muggings here in new york (as i recall one teenager died) i see no reason to call more attention to my portable music device ipod or other wise. I find the picture on the page a less than ideal image for advertising. His expression looks as if he is, in fact, being mugged for his ipod. (The musician in me wonders if they got clearance to use that stereo mc's track.)

Strongbad thinks The Cheat should get some for his iMac and throw more light switch raves.

Safari is broken by default: It can make sounds, but it doesn't have any volume control.

The white ones would be much more effective than the standard headphones for doing fake iTunes + iPod commercials...
