Belkin announces Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle

belkin_adapterToday Belkin announced a new addition to its line of iPod goodies: the Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle. When connected to the shuffle's USB port, the Dock Adapter lets you use a variety of iPod add-ons with your shuffle, including battery packs, auto power cords, iPod speakers, and USB/FireWire cables that have a Dock Connector. Pretty handy. Belkin expects to ship the Dock Adapter in North America by late September 2005, at a cost of $19.99US.

Shufflers everywhere should love it.

Alan, please explain exactly how the Ipod controls work in your Scion TC. I'm thinking about buying a Scion XA and the 2006 models have Ipod integration as well. But, I don't know what all I can control on the Ipod through the car.

per Belkin's site: Note:Requires 5V+ of USB power to charge your iPod shuffle. Compatible with power and audio accessories only. iPod photo accessories and car integration kits are not compatible with the Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle. *Will not sync when used with a FireWire cable. However, power and audio will be compatible. --- So in response to post #1 - Nope, not compatible with car integration kits and to #2 - Sorry again, Firewire will just charge the shuffle, not transfer data, so no $20 USB/Firewire converter. Hope this helps.

Anyone think this will work with oem car stereos? Example: My Scion tC has iPod controls and I would love to plug my Shuffle into it!
