End-of-day diversion: Glider Pro X
Way back in 1994 I was completely addicted to Glider Pro. For those unfamiliar with the game, it required you to fly a virtual paper airplane through a virtual house while avoiding obstacles like spinning fans, heating vents, candles...you know, stuff that's dangerous to a paper airplane. Once you got bored with the supplied houses, you could create your own with the house editor. Like I said, completely addicted.Tonight, completely on a nostalgia-fueled whim, I set Google after "Glider Pro," and lo and behold it's been ported to OS X...and it's free! This is probably old news, but I had no idea. The house editor is still OS 9 only, but several additional houses have been made available by the game's developer. I know what I'll be doing for the next couple of hours.
This has got me thinking: What other classic games have been ported to OS X that I'm unaware of? Anyone know of some good ones?

NICE! I grew up playing this game for hours on end. I still think it is one of the best time killers in the world. Thanks for posting this up.

ScummVM is great! It is the engine for games like Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion and many more. It works really good on OS X. (And windows/linux/*bsd/pocketpc/palm/amigaos/beos/dreamcast to if you need it...)

Cool. They have a t-shirt too! I think I'll be sportin' a Glider t-shirt in the very near future!

I remember playing this game, but I am having trouble downloading it at work because of "web security software". I just recently moved to Japan and have yet to get the internet at my house, so does any body have an alternative way to download this program for the OS X? Many thanks.

Isn't there money to be made from porting these old classics? Or is it too difficult to negotiate the roghts or licensing or something? I'd love to be able to play Crystal Quest or Crystal Crazy again. A lot of these games are playable if you get an emulator working, but that seems far too complicated to me.

I used to design Glider houses back in the day, and I've still got a few up on my Web site, should anyone be interested:

It's a fantastic game, and I only wish the house editor had been ported to OS X.

I downloaded a OSX version of Marathon a while back...I will try to find the site again. Haven't played it, but I did see if it ran and it did.

I downloaded this product for the first time, excited to see where ya'll's excitement came from and I can't get it to recognize the Houses, and as such it won't run. I know this isn't a support site, but any thoughts?
best,
John

I'm also having trouble getting it to recognize the houses.
I'm running Tiger on a 15" 1GHZ PB, just so you know.
