Quicktime 7 full screen controls are draggable
Stop me if you've heard this one, but I think a new feature of Quicktime 7 Pro is that the player control palette in a movie played at full screen is draggable. I think I remember trying this on previous Quicktime players, including Quicktime 6 Pro, with no luck. It's a trivial thing, but it's kind of handy to get these controls out of the way which - in my opinion - they should be anyways. I appreciate movie player controls that can get out of the way of the movie I'm watching.Since both of my machines now run Tiger and Quicktime 7 Pro, can anyone else confirm whether or not this is a Quicktime 7 or Pro-only thing?

Full screen controls are brand new to 7. Controls never existed in any other version prior. And since full screen is only a Pro enabled feature, yes, it's just QT7Pro that has this feature.

Yes, full screen is a Pro only thing; I had to reenter my key to do this experiment because it wouldn't give me the full screen - I installed a new HDD two weeks ago and reinstalled everything and the key was a loose end I forgot about. The player control palette is draggle in Panther.

Yes, it's full-screen, hence pro-only. Also, it is only available in QT7. I don't believe QT6 had on-screen controls in full-screen. And for some of us, this is old news. ;)

FWIW, the free utility Xinema allows full-screen viewing of QT files.

I use VLC with the Vlc Widget(here). That way I pull up dashboard when I need to change around.

Brian:
Why bother with the Dashboard VLC widget? Just hit cmd-` when you're in full screen VLC playback and bring up the proper VLC controller. That way the video you're watching won't darken as you bring the controller up, unlike Dashboard. And God forbid if you have other widgets open

Brian, others:
I wrote a widget for remotely controlling VLC over a network via HTTP interface. It allows me to control vlc remotely from my powerbook.

no worries about bringing up any interface controls over the video.
