Report: Black nano outselling white

nanosAccording to a report at iPod Garage, iPod nano sales are taking off, even this early in the game. The black 4GB iPod nano has jumped to the #4 position on Amazon already, and the 4GB white model is at #22. While the black 4GB nano is doing better than its white counterpart, both 4GB models are really blowing away their 2GB siblings.  The black and white 2GB models are at # 120 and #288 at Amazon, respectively.

It looks like, for the early adopters at least, the black 4GB model is the nano to have. It's definitely the one I want. I've even got a name picked out: Mini Vader.

So, will you buy a nano, which model will you choose and what will its name be?

Were I to get a Nano, I'd have to get white. My car's interior is all black, and I'd lose a black Nano in an instant.

Oops!n I just re-read the previous posts and I see that I am not the first to think of "Mork". I thought it might be too obvious a choice. Does anybody that has a Nano think the volume is loud enough? I had it on max volume and it did not seem loud enough. I was using some older black earphones

I bought a black 4GB. It does appear to scratch easy. It is an present for my wife so we do not have to argue over which she gets to use. I am going to try to get her to call it Mork. You know Mork from Mac Nano, Nano. They seem to be the same old white earphones. The local Apple store said they will be getting armbands in next, I have already seen a cover online somewhere

I just got my 4 gig nano, white because they were all out of black. I named it 'NegativeNine' and I am sure anyone can figure why, if you don't know already. I am going to post a nice review about it on my blog (http://www.t413.com) later...

I imagine Apple is revisiting black for the Intel based PowerBooks. Fingerprints won't be an issue if the material is similar to the pre-titanium/aluminum PowerBooks. I have a black RAZR and it doesn't show fingerprints.

Have you seen the U2-edition iPods? It seems custom built to show off scratches and fingerprints. I made mine a 4GB White, and it shall be called Schmoo.

Black looks really really cool and shiny. However, just like the PSP (Playstation Portable) it will attract finger prints like mad! You will most likely find yourself constantly buffing the black surface with a microfibre cloth! If you don't constantly clean it, it will look oily and smudged with finger prints. The white one doesn't show the smudges as bad. I know people who constantly buff the stainless steel back of the iPods as it too shows fingerprints. How much more for a shiny black iPod? Also some have said they would love a shiny black PowerBook but same issue, it's going to collect fingerprints and palm marks and really show off the salt residue from sweaty hands! It's bad enough, I have to polish my Aluminum PowerBook all the time. Black would be much worse. Just a thought to consider....
