More video iPod proof?
Dave Caolo and I are going back and forth as to whether or not Apple's Oct 12th event could involve an iPod video. Thanks to some TUAW reader comments on my original post, I know the accompanying pic is actually a Korean product, but Engadget found a Google cache page of a search at Apple.com for "ipod video" that gets the gears going all over again. The page is titled "Apple - iTunes + iPod Video," and only lives in Google's cache as of this writing.
On the flip side for you nay-sayers, Engadget did update their post to say that the page they found does live on some Apple sites in other parts of the world. However, when I follow said link, it redirects to an iTunes + iPod page that says nothing about video.
Obviously, this is nothing more than another sliver of rumor which could easy turn out to be smoke, but you gotta admit it still whets the appetite, if only a little.

I was about to post what niji did, since the placeholder which wasn't saved in the Google cache is clearly just for a QuickTime promo video. (Another being the "QuickTime 6 Required" image placeholder below it!) You guys are really stretching it to prove these rumours correct now...

You know how the ad campaign now reads "iPod + iTunes"?
This looks to me like an old page where you could view one of the ads...
As in, the "iPod + iTunes" video

Comments on Engadget and a news article on MacRumors already echo what I knew when I first read this. Engadget not knowing about this video doesn't surprise me, but TUAW should be familiar with this video. As a memory jogger, here's that video.

There will be no video iPod at the Special Event. It's just not practical. There will be a distribution model for video content before there will be a mobile video device. This is not like audio, people don't want to carry their movies around with them and watch them 2-3 times a day.
The Apple special event is going to be about creating a video content 'rental' service. Not just movies, but TV content also.
I've written about this at length at my blog here:

It would be great, but i dont think that the media companies are ready for this yet.
Would love to have an easy way to get TV shows that I would normaly TIVO onto a video ipod to watch while out of the house.

As people have already said, it's a video or videos about iTunes and the iPod, not "iPod Video." Besides, we all know that it would be the "iPod video" (not capitalized) if it really existed. This is not to say that there won't be a video capable iPod - I don't know. But this doesn't have anything to do with it.

Bogus... there are no pics and a good hour worth of photo can do the same thing. Well not even an hour.

Look at the date... 2004.
Man, do you guys even read the comments on Engadget? Both this and the photo were debunked there.
