New iPods record in stereo

ipod_recordingAccording to Apple's spec page for the iPod, it will record in stereo:

"Voice recording settings: Low (22.05 KHz, mono) High (44.1 KHz, stereo)." Cool! This is good news for folks who don't want to install Podzilla. Plus, I know how many of you students are just dying to hear your professor's lecture in full "stereophonic sound!" You're welcome.

It most probably uses the headphone jack, meaning you could use the headphones as a mic, or plug a mic into the headphone jack. Which will mean you can't listen to Basement Jaxx, while letting your iPod record your lectures ;)

No, but there are 3rd party accessories that are mics. The iPod records at 8kHz, 16bit Mono. (iPod Specified) I have this one and it's always been said it would be nice if it recorded in stereo. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/italk/ So I am curious if that means my 4th Gen B&W 20 Gig now will record in stereo? Or is this only for the new ones? Take care, Denny

Now if there was only a way for us iPod photos and 4th gens to play video too, we'd be all good-but, for now, we gotta live with Podzilla video playback (c'mon Apple, release a software update for us with color iPods so we too can play video-we know you can!) k.
