New iPods have landed
Looks like the new iPods are slowly working their way into eager iPod-lover hands. Lots of readers have emailed us about receiving their iPods today, and Engadget has a slew of 'iPod upacking porn' for you to look at.
Apple is really cutting back on the slick packaging it seems, well that's what happens when you let PC users in on the party.

October 18 2005 at 5:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyJust so you know (I'm the one who took these photos), I ordered mine 15 minutes after they announced them and I live in NYC, so it's not an east coast thing that's causing any hold-ups you might be having.
October 18 2005 at 4:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI ordered within an hour of it coming out via standard el-cheapo-free shipping and it's on my desk right now. From October 17th to this morning--basically 1 day--it went from Shanghai China -> Alaska -> Indianapolis -> New Jersey -> Brooklyn -> Me. And here's irony. I got it in one day with no special shipping but I'm waiting for an unrelated package that a friend in Queens has sent me via UPS 'Next Day Air Saver' and it's still not here yet. Yeesh!!! But as far as the iPod goes, let me be the first to say that watching an old 1950s Bettie Page film on this iPod's screen is one magical moment. http://www.picpatrol.com/Jacks_iPod_BettyPage.jpg I was never hot on video in an iPod until I got this. The screen is VERY clear and VERY sharp. It's completely usable and even album art looks lots better. But can I say something about the extras? I'll tolerate the fact that the video cables and power brick are not included. But calling the flimsy piece of sewed together junk they include with the new iPods a 'case' is an insult. It's like calling a sock a shoe. Check it out: http://www.picpatrol.com/Jacks_iPod_Case.jpg Call it a 'protective sleeve' or 'complimentary envelope', but case? Please Apple. That's just wrong!
